The Sound of Winter
By Rachel Elaine Roberts 3/5/2015
Hushed shivers,
Quiet tip toes of stocking covered feet.
Giggles around a swaying fire,
the crackles it's accompanist.
The wet splat of icy snowballs,
followed by hysterical screeches
of joy from the victims.
The moaning of a blizzard
in the lifeless trees.
The rustle of tearing paper
as colorful packaging
falls to the ground.
The caroling of Christmas do-gooders,
Their voices a wonderful
relife from the still fridged air.
The sounds of winter.
